I like guitars with a warm, vibrant tone; over time, I’ve found that sometimes this has less to do with the price and more with how well a guitar fits my play style.
Similarly, getting lost in the world of pedals and effects is easy.
However, I’ve always maintained that, as a beginner, mastering the art and science of clean tones is the first step.
Ironically, I’ve found that some of my best music has come from simplicity, not from a complex setup with multiple pedals.
As for cables, I cannot stress enough about investing in good quality cables. Early in my career, I experienced the frustration of an interrupted performance due to cheap cables failing.
